The Gaelic Literature of Skye: an Annotated Bibliography Anne Loughran A bibliography of the printed Gaelic literature of Skye and the adjacent islands of Raasay, South Rona, Muck, Rum, Eigg, Canna and Soay. It is based upon the author’s M.Litt thesis submitted to the University of Aberdeen in 1986 and will be updated to the present day. Material listed includes the work of men and women who have belonged to the area either through birth or long residence: it also includes material which may have originated from outwith the area, but which has become absorbed into the oral tradition. Some of the material appeared in print before the late eighteenth century, but much of it was composed at a considerably earlier date. Sources used include books, pamphlets, periodicals and, on a selective basis, newspapers. Some reference is also made to manuscript material and to sound recordings. This work, to be issued in CD format, is currently in preparation. It is hoped that it will be published in late 2008. When we have a firm date for publication it will be announced on this page.
